Bathroom vanity lighting works best when the fixture, mirror, vanity and electrical connection are planned as one wall—not chosen as four separate pieces. Start with the actual dimensions and junction-box location, then compare the light source, controls and bathroom-location rating for the exact fixture.

1. Map the vanity wall before choosing a light
Measure the vanity, mirror and clear wall area together. Record the mirror’s widest and tallest points, the distance to side walls or cabinets, the existing electrical box, faucet and backsplash clearance, and any medicine-cabinet door that needs room to open.
A fixture can look proportional in a product photo and still be a poor fit if its backplate misses the electrical box, the shades crowd the mirror, or a cabinet door hits the light. For a new bathroom layout, plan the vanity, mirror and lighting before the wall is finished whenever practical.
2. Choose the fixture format by the wall

Integrated LED mirror

3. Size the fixture from real dimensions—not one universal percentage

4. Do not use the number of lights as a brightness rating
Three, four or five light positions describe the fixture layout. They do not establish total brightness, light distribution or energy use by themselves. Those depend on the exact lamp or LED system, output, shade design, direction and controls.

5. Verify the bulb or LED system before buying

For an LED fixture, confirm whether the light source is integrated or serviceable and check documented output, color temperature and dimming only when the exact model supplies those values.

6. Treat bathroom-location ratings as exact-product facts

7. Check controls and light quality separately
Dimming, color temperature, lumen output and color-rendering information are different specifications. If one is missing, do not infer it from another. A fixture described as LED should not automatically be called dimmable, color-adjustable, high-CRI, flicker-free or “perfect for makeup” without exact evidence.
Choose the lighting effect you want, then verify that the selected fixture or bulbs provide the documented controls and output needed for that plan.
