Charging Nightstand Ports & Electrical Checklist

A charging nightstand can include several types of power connection, but the connector label alone does not tell you how much power the furniture can safely deliver. This guide focuses on the electrical and port checklist, not room styling or general nightstand selection.
Still choosing the furniture? Start with Charging Nightstands: A Practical Buying Guide. Already own one? Use the Charging Nightstand Placement Guide.
1. Identify every connection
Check whether the exact model provides AC outlets, USB-A, USB-C, wireless charging or another connector. Do not transfer a feature from a similar-looking nightstand.
2. Separate connector type from charging performance
USB-C does not automatically mean a particular wattage or fast-charge protocol. USB-A also varies. If output figures are important, use the product label, manual or verified technical data for the exact model.
3. Check AC outlet ratings
An integrated AC receptacle should only be used within the documented electrical limits. Do not assume a nightstand outlet supports a hair tool, heater or other higher-power appliance simply because the plug fits.
4. Check the furniture's input power
Confirm the supplied cord, plug, voltage and any adapter information. Use only components approved for the product and avoid unknown replacement adapters or improvised power connections.
5. Inspect port placement
Make sure plugs can be inserted and removed without moving the bed or crushing cables against a wall. Keep ports away from drinks and other liquids on the bedside surface.
6. Plan cable movement
Keep the main power cord clear of drawers, casters, adjustable-bed mechanisms and walking paths. Leave enough access to disconnect the furniture if a cable or connection becomes damaged.
7. Do not daisy-chain by default
A built-in charging station is not permission to stack adapters, power strips or extension arrangements. Follow the exact electrical instructions and household electrical requirements for the installation.
Current Viva Product Truth
The ACTIVE Viva Bedside Table with USB-C, USB & AC Charging currently lists one USB port, one USB-C port and two AC outlets. Its live product data does not provide a detailed outlet rating or electrical certification, so this guide does not invent wattage, fast-charging or appliance-compatibility claims.
