Match the base to the mattress and measure the real room. Use the exact current product dimensions rather than assuming every Queen, Full or Twin XL base has the same exterior footprint.

2. The movement you need

If you mainly want a more upright position for reading or watching a screen, head adjustment may be enough. If independent head and foot movement matters, confirm both sections on the exact model.

3. A compatible mattress

Confirm that the mattress manufacturer approves the mattress for repeated flexing on an adjustable foundation.

4. Straightforward controls

A wireless remote can be convenient, but check which functions are actually included. Do not assume memory, anti-snore, massage or other presets unless they are documented.

5. Safe power and clearance planning

Plan outlet access before positioning the base. Keep cords, bedding, storage bins, pets and people away from moving sections and follow the exact electrical instructions.

6. A verified supported-weight specification

Use only the load rating stated for the exact current model. Do not transfer a number from another Viva adjustable base or an older listing.

Features that may be worth paying for

Extra features matter when they remove a repeated inconvenience. USB access can help when bedside outlets are limited. Under-bed lighting can provide low-level nighttime illumination. Independent foot movement can matter if you regularly change both ends of the sleep surface. None of these is automatically essential.
