Choose the diameter by furniture and wall size

Measure the furniture or wall zone below the mirror and leave visual space around the circle. A mirror that is too small can feel disconnected; one that is too large may crowd sconces, shelves or adjacent doors. There is no universal ideal diameter for every vanity or console.

Decide what the mirror is for

An entryway mirror may mainly support a quick check before leaving. A bedroom mirror can be more decorative. A bathroom mirror needs additional attention to mounting, moisture exposure and any electrical fixtures nearby.

Frame finish

Black creates clear contrast and works well with warm white, beige, natural wood and soft gray. Brass or gold tones add warmth. A frameless mirror can feel lighter visually, but its edge and mounting system become more noticeable.

Round vs. rectangular

Round mirrors add curves and can break up a grid of cabinets, tile or rectangular furniture. Rectangular mirrors usually provide more reflection area within the same wall width. Choose by the room geometry and viewing need rather than by trend.
