How to Hang a Round Wall Mirror: Step-by-Step Guide for Every Wall Type
Share
You've chosen the mirror. You know exactly where it's going. Now comes the part that makes most people nervous: actually hanging it. The good news? The Viva Elite Round Wall Mirror comes with a pre-installed hook on the back — which means you're already halfway there. This guide covers the rest, for every wall type, in plain language.
✔ Pre-Installed Hook: No assembly required — ready to hang straight out of the box
✔ Lightweight Aluminum Frame: Easier to hang than it looks
✔ Shatterproof Safety Film: Peace of mind if the unexpected happens
✔ Available in 20", 24", 30": Weight varies by size — guide covers all three

🛠️ What You'll Need
✔ Pencil — for marking the wall
✔ Tape measure — for precise placement
✔ Level — non-negotiable; even a slight tilt is noticeable
✔ Stud finder — recommended for heavier mirrors (24" and 30")
✔ Drill or screwdriver — depending on your wall type
✔ Wall anchor — if not hanging into a stud
✔ Screw or picture hook — rated for the mirror's weight
✨ Step-by-Step: How to Hang a Round Wall Mirror
Step 1 — Choose Your Spot
Decide exactly where the mirror will go. For most rooms, center the mirror at eye level — approximately 57–60" from the floor to the mirror's center. Above furniture, leave 6–8" between the top of the furniture and the bottom of the mirror.
Step 2 — Mark the Hanging Point
Hold the mirror against the wall in your chosen position. Mark the wall lightly with a pencil at the top center of the mirror. Then measure down to where the hook on the back of the mirror sits — this is your screw point. Mark it clearly.
Step 3 — Find a Stud (or Use an Anchor)
For 24" and 30" mirrors, use a stud finder to locate a wall stud near your mark. Hanging into a stud is always the most secure option. If no stud is available at your exact spot, use a wall anchor rated for the mirror's weight.
Step 4 — Drive the Screw
Drive your screw into the stud or anchor point, leaving approximately ¼" of the screw head protruding from the wall — this is what the hook will rest on. Don't drive it flush.
Step 5 — Hang the Mirror
Hook the pre-installed hook on the back of the mirror onto the screw. Gently release and let the mirror settle.
Step 6 — Level It
Place your level on top of the mirror frame. Adjust left or right until the bubble is centered. Step back and check from a distance — your eye will catch what the level misses.

🏠 Wall-by-Wall Guide
📍 Drywall (Most Common)
✔ Best Option: Hang into a stud whenever possible
✔ No Stud Available: Use a drywall anchor rated for at least 2x the mirror's weight
✔ 20" Mirror: A standard picture hook or drywall anchor works perfectly
✔ 24" & 30" Mirror: Use a toggle bolt or heavy-duty drywall anchor for extra security
✔ Tip: Avoid hanging near electrical outlets or plumbing — use a stud finder to check for wires
📍 Plaster Walls (Older Homes)
✔ Challenge: Plaster is harder and more brittle than drywall — requires more care
✔ Best Option: Use a masonry bit to pre-drill, then insert a plastic anchor
✔ Avoid: Hammering directly into plaster — it will crack
✔ Tip: Place painter's tape over the drill spot before drilling — prevents the plaster from cracking around the hole
✔ All Sizes: Pre-drill + plastic anchor is the safest approach
📍 Tile Walls (Bathroom)
✔ Challenge: Tile requires a diamond-tipped drill bit — standard bits will slip and scratch
✔ Best Option: Diamond-tipped bit + tile anchor
✔ Alternative: Heavy-duty adhesive strips rated for the mirror's weight (no drilling required)
✔ Tip: Drill at low speed with light pressure — let the bit do the work
✔ Note: The Viva Elite frame is waterproof and rust-resistant — safe for bathroom tile walls
📍 Brick or Concrete Walls
✔ Best Option: Masonry bit + concrete anchor
✔ Drill: Use a hammer drill for best results
✔ Anchor: Sleeve anchor or wedge anchor for heavier mirrors
✔ Tip: Drill into the mortar between bricks when possible — easier and less likely to crack the brick
✔ All Sizes: Masonry anchor is the only reliable option here
⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid
✔ Hanging Too High: The most common mistake — always center at eye level, not near the ceiling
✔ Skipping the Level: Even a 1° tilt is visible — always use a level
✔ Wrong Anchor Weight Rating: Always use an anchor rated for at least 2x the mirror's weight
✔ Not Checking for Wires: Use a stud finder with AC detection before drilling
✔ Driving the Screw Flush: Leave ¼" protruding for the hook to rest on

💡 Pro Tips for a Perfect Hang
✔ Use Painter's Tape: Tape the mirror's outline on the wall before committing — live with it for a day
✔ Two-Person Job: For 30" mirrors, have someone hold it while you step back and check placement
✔ Anti-Slip Pads: Add small felt pads to the back bottom of the frame to prevent swinging
✔ Check After 24 Hours: Anchors can settle slightly — re-level after the first day if needed
